So often I hear this rather tired comment: “I don’t have time to read.” But is it true? I have my doubts. One problem stems from readers believing they have to sail through a book in a week or less, or that real reading requires an hour or two a day of holding a book or staring at a screen. We all know that’s unrealistic for many of us. Myself included. So what does work? I’m going to tell you my secret weapon. And truly it works. Every time.
Read slowly. It’s not a race. Even two or three pages a day is still reading. Try it. It’s not overwhelming or arduous. You do have time to read. I’m living proof.
A dear friend of mine made this quilt…one day at a time. Each colorful book patch was signed by authors she knew or met. If she could make this quilt, and it took a long time, we can read.
Good luck, and let me know what you are reading this summer! If you would like to review a book, just let me know in a comment below. SunnyRoomStudio is nearly always open to guest posts.
